"Argentine Women" is a song cycle composed by the Argentine composer Ariel Ramírez. It is based on Félix Luna lyrics about eight women who were part of the Argentine history and fighters for their freedom.

"Las cartas de Guadalupe"

María Guadalupe was the faithful wife of Mariano Moreno, Argentine champion of independence. True to her husband and his ideas, Guadalupe´s letters to Mariano are both a love story and a testament about Argentina revolutionary times. Under unclear circumstances, Moreno died in the sea, on a trip to England. Ignoring her husband´s fate, Guadalupe continued writing letters for months that Mariano never read.

"Guadalupe´s Letters"
Translation

Oh!, Guadalupe,
Your letters have turned into clouds
A blind angel took your letters and were lost,
What a great sorrow, you're widow and you don´t know.

In a yellow frigate
Mariano went away
He has to bring me earrings
and a bright girdle
He has to bring me earrings
and a bright girdle.

Oh!, Guadalupe,
Yours letters have turned into clouds.
